Basic training on responsible purchasing practices

In the basic training, companies learn how their purchasing practices affect working conditions in the supply chain and how they can improve them.

With a new basic training, companies in the Textiles Partnership learn how their purchasing practices affect working conditions in the supply chain and how they can improve them. The 30-minute video introduces to the topic for all employees of departments involved in purchasing practices: CSR, purchase, design, HR, quality management, accounting. The video is available in German and English and was produced by the Partnership Secretariat with the support of Partnership member ALDI Süd.

Having attended this training, brands and retailers will know

  • what is understood by purchasing practices and who influences them.
  • how their own actions can impact workers in the supply chain.
  • how price pressure affects the wages of workers in the supply chain.
  • by which means your company can contribute to better working conditions in the supply chain through more responsible purchasing practices.

Responsible purchasing practices are a key building block for companies to meet their due diligence obligations and contribute to better working conditions in their supply chain. Purchasing practices encompass the way brand companies and retailers interact and do business with the manufacturers that supply their products.

They are affected by many departments within the company and have a significant impact on the workers in the suppliers’ production facilities. Positive change can therefore only be achieved if all departments pull together.
