WHO WE ARE

Bodies

The Partnership for Sustainable Textiles is made up of representatives of five different actor groups. They all have equal rights in the discussions and decision-making processes. As a basis for their work, the members have defined a plan of action and Partnership’s goals; they also have identified priority areas of action and devised a working process.

The Steering Committee

The most important decision-making panel is the Steering Committee, in which all stakeholder groups are represented in proportion to their representation in the Partnership. The Steering Committee has been re-elected in May 2017 and is made up of the following representatives:

  • Dr. Uwe Mazura (Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry – t&m)
  • Stefan Genth (Handelsverband Deutschland – HDE e.V.)
  • Dr. Johannes Merck (Otto GmbH & Co KG)
  • Nico Kemmler (Textilkontor Walter Seidensticker GmbH & Co. KG)
  • Dr. Gisela Burckhardt (FEMNET e.V.)
  • Dr. Sabine Ferenschild (SÜDWIND e.V. – Institut für Ökonomie und Ökumene)
  • Berndt Hinzmann (INKOTA-netzwerk e.V.)
  • Frank Zach (German Trade Union Confederation – DGB)
  • Claudia Kersten (Global Organic Textile Standard – GOTS)
  • Dr. Bernhard Felmberg (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development – BMZ)
  • Dr. Torsten Christen (Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs – BMAS)
  • Anja Mager (Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety – BMUB)
Specialist Working Groups

The Specialist Working Groups define the standards and measures all Partnership members have committed to implement step-by-step. All stakeholder groups are represented in the six Working Groups:

WG Review Process

The Working Group Review devises the technical and methodological frame for the individual continuous progress of the members. It defines the basic concept for the subject-specific work of the three Specialist Working Groups.
