The Partnership Initiative “Gender Data Gap” has made great progress the past year.
In July 2024, a large workshop was held for project participants in Bonn, where key issues and measures were discussed and finalised. In addition, a final trip to Tunisia took place in December, during which the project participants were visited on site and the impact of the project was discussed in a workshop. Based on the results obtained and the perspectives of various stakeholders, the ‘Assessment and Action Guide’ was then finalised and a questionnaire with an evaluation and an action plan were drawn up.
Focus of the questionnaire
- Occupational safety of pregnant women
- Promotion opportunities for women
- Psychological and physical violence in the workplace
These issues are crucial to ensure that women in the textile industry work in a protected and supportive working environment. The results of the survey provide important insights that contribute to improving working conditions.
Measures and recommendations developed
Based on the findings, specific measures and recommendations were developed together with the partners. The most important of these include
- The creation and implementation of specific guidelines (policies) to promote gender equality
- Sensitisation training and capacity building to raise awareness of gender-specific challenges
These measures aim to bring about long-term positive changes and significantly improve working conditions for women.
The Partnership Initiative Gender Data Gap is being implemented as part of the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles and is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It is being implemented in cooperation with the hessnatur Foundation, Hess Natur-Textilien GmbH & Co KG, GERRY WEBER International AG, FEMNET e.V., Global Standard gGmbH and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ).
