OECD Side Session: Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement in Practice – Insights from India, Indonesia, and Eastern Europe

Monday, 9. February 2026
Time: 12.30 – 1.30pm

(CET)

Language: English

Meaningful stakeholder engagement (MSE) must be continuous, reciprocal, and based on good faith; yet many companies still struggle to engage directly with their stakeholders. To help bridge this gap, Fair Wear, together with partners such as CNV Internationaal and the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles, carried out a series of MSE Pilots across India, Indonesia, and Eastern Europe.

In this session, the organisers will walk through the practical, collective approach that they tested with brands – connecting them to trade unions, civil society organisations, business associations and suppliers in each region. The session will highlight key lessons learned and concrete examples from the three pilots, showing how structured engagement led to risk prioritisation and helped identify stakeholder-informed mitigation actions.

The Partnership is Transforming

The current Partnership for Sustainable Textiles (PST) is transforming into the Dialogue and Impact for Sustainable Textiles (DST) in April. The multistakeholder network brings committed international, European and local stakeholders even closer together to promote a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable textile and clothing industry. The focus is on practical exchange, knowledge transfer, the development of initiatives and the involvement of local actors.
