Welcome to the Partnership: Deerberg GmbH

Welcome to the Partnership: Deerberg GmbH

We are pleased to welcome Deerberg GmbH to the Textiles Partnership.

Deerberg employs around 280 people at its site in Velgen near Hamburg. Since 1986, the company has specialized in women's clothing, shoes and home textiles made of high-quality natural materials such as linen, organic cotton, virgin wool and leather. Deerberg sells its products through its catalog and online store as well as in eight of its own stores in Germany.

Since 2017, many organic cotton items at Deerberg have been GOTS certified. The share of certified organic cotton is now 94 percent in the upcoming fall/winter 2021 season. In addition, environmentally friendly and innovative materials such as viscose from Lenzing EcoVero, Tencel or Cupro are used. High-tech laser washing, cold pigment dyeing and vegetable-tanned leather are also used in production. In addition, Deerberg makes sure that all partners and suppliers comply with the company's specified requirements for environmental protection, social compatibility and fairness. Since March 2021, the company has been offsetting its CO2 emissions and is thus certified as climate neutral.

Managing directors Lars Buschbom and Andreas Buchholz describe the motivation for working in the Textiles Partnership like this: "Through our membership in the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles, we want to make our supply chain more sustainable and participate in approaches to solutions and projects. We would like to see a lively exchange on corporate due diligence, information and assistance, and good cooperation. We are particularly interested in ideas for implementing effective grievance mechanisms, pollution management and living wages in supply chains."
