Annual Topic
In focus: With the Annual Topic, the Textile Partnership pays special attention to selected topics.

In this way, we want to raise awareness for the respective topic and drive improvements - within the Textile Partnership and among its members, but also beyond the Partnership. As a rule, an expert group works on the topic and produces, for example, support material for all members. In the course of the year, several workshops and events on the annual topic take place, including at the Working Meeting and the Members' Meeting.

2021
Responsible Purchasing Practices

Effective cooperation between purchasing companies and suppliers based on partnership is crucial to protect the rights of workers in the supply chain. The COVID-19 crisis has once again made this particularly clear. With the Annual Topic 2021, we want to contribute to an industry-wide improvement of purchasing practices and to create space for progress towards good working conditions and living wages; in the sense of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for the textile sector.

Purchasing practices describe all the principles and processes by which brands and retailers interact and do business with the manufacturers who supply their products. Responsible purchasing practices enable suppliers to plan their production and working hours effectively and to pay workers fairly. At the same time, they enable suppliers to invest in the overall improvement of working conditions. In this way, they strengthen resilience in the supply chain.

2020
Gender-based violence

Sexual and gender-based violence describes violence against people based on their gender and affects mainly women and girls, but also men and boys, although to a lesser extent. Gender-based violence encompasses all violent acts that cause physical, emotional, psychological or sexual harm and suffering. This may also include denial of resources or access to services. Generally, gender-based violence is based on gender norms and unequal power relations.

Gender-based violence against women is a widespread problem. Estimates suggest that 35 percent of all women worldwide have already experienced gender-based violence. About 80 percent of all employees in the global fashion industry are women. Working conditions are often precarious and violence against women occurs far too frequently.
