German-Bangladesh Higher Education Network for Sustainable Textiles (HEST)

Objective

Social and ecological aspects are a part of higher education. Trainings for the future generation of managers, to enhance their contribution to a more sustainable and transparent way of designing the supply chain.

Short description

The project includes three areas of intervention:

  • to satisfy the damand for middle managers,
  • to strengthen the contribution of universities towards a sustainable textile industry,
  • to foster the dialogue about sustainable management as a social responsibility.

Achievements

  • Curricular enhancement of degree programs that are relevant to the industry with sustainability issues such as AG8 Quality and Environmental Management and social AG8
  • Trainings to enhance the competencies of the management staff towards social and environmental standards
  • Fostering of the national and regional communication through the German-Bengali university network which builds bridges between science and industry.
