Establishment of a training centre to promote organic agriculture in Adilabad District – project progress in 2017

Objective

All-round support for farmers to enable them to adopt sustainable techniques and safeguard their livelihoods permanently.

Short description

The GoodTextiles Foundation project to establish a training centre to promote organic agriculture in Adilabad District is being supported by the GoodCotton Fund. Its aim is to help small farmers in India switch from conventional to organic farming methods. At the same time a training centre is to be established, application technologies devised and training in organic farming made possible. A dialogue is also to be encouraged between trained farmers and untrained labourers.

A total of 3,200 ecologically working farmers producing organic cotton are to receive support, thus improving their living conditions.

Achievements

Full funding for the project has been secured. Donations worth EUR 19,000 have already been received by the project, and the foundation stone for the new training centre has been laid.

The rest of the donations will be transferred to the partner at the end of October/beginning of November.
