The challenge

Promoting access to remedy and redress is a fundamental part of corporate due diligence. However, especially in the deeper supply chain and in some countries, this access is not sufficiently developed, making it hard for workers to safely complain about labour or human rights violations and stand up for their rights.

Our approach

Access to grievance mechanisms is being expanded in the participating supplier factories. The approach differs in the two participating production countries, China and Vietnam. However, both internal and external grievance structures are to be strengthened and established in both countries. Accompanying awareness-raising measures and training sessions inform textile workers and factory management about human and labour rights and safe grievance mechanisms.

Our goals

The objective of the Partnership Initiative was to improve access to effective grievance mechanisms for (potentially) affected workers and their representatives along the deeper textile supply chain in China and Vietnam. This is expected to improve working conditions in supplier factories in China and Vietnam in the long term.

The Partnership is Transforming

The current Partnership for Sustainable Textiles (PST) is transforming into the Dialogue and Impact for Sustainable Textiles (DST) in April. The multistakeholder network brings committed international, European and local stakeholders even closer together to promote a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable textile and clothing industry. The focus is on practical exchange, knowledge transfer, the development of initiatives and the involvement of local actors.
