The Grüner Knopf (Green Button) is a label for sustainably produced textiles. It sets binding requirements to protect people and the environment. 26 social and ecological criteria must be met - from waste water limits to a ban on forced labour. In addition to the respective products, the company as a whole is audited. It must prove its human rights, social and ecological responsibility on the basis of a further 20 criteria: Are there complaint mechanisms for the workers on site? Does it eliminate abuses? Does it disclose risks in its supply chain? Independent inspection bodies monitor compliance with the criteria. The Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle (DAkkS) ensures independent and credible testing.
